A Ministry of Capitol Baptist Church

About the Seminary

Theological training that flows out of, and back into, the local church.

Our Story

Born of a church, for the church.

Independent Baptist Seminary was founded in September 2020 by Dr. Steve Damron, growing out of the training ministry of Fairhaven Baptist Church in Indiana. In 2022, Dr. T. H. Moore — pastor of Capitol Baptist Church in Dover, Delaware — became president, and the seminary found its home as a ministry of that local church.

We exist to give pastors, missionaries, teachers, and faithful church members a rigorous, Bible-centered education without pulling them away from the work God has already given them. Undergraduate certificates and degrees, master’s programs, and doctoral study are all offered through a mix of modules, online classes, correspondence, and in-person evenings.

Everything we teach is Baptistic and independent, and every course rests on the King James Version from the Textus Receptus. We are not a denominational board or a sprawling university — we are an arm of the local church, and we mean to stay that way.

Baptistic

Every course is taught from historic Baptist distinctives — the local church, believer's baptism, and the autonomy of the congregation.

Independent

The seminary is an arm of the local church, free of any denominational hierarchy or board that would assign authority to itself.

King James Bible

We hold to the verbal, plenary inspiration of Scripture and teach the King James Version from the Textus Receptus.

Convenient

Online, module, correspondence, and in-person options are built for the working student, the pastor, and the missionary already in the field.
